【Cambodia】Diversity Voyage in Phnom Penh 2020 Spring
As part of the Diversity Voyage, a short-term overseas training programme themed on co-creation and social participation for Toyo University students, a sports educational event titled GiFT DAY was held at the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex, which is the venue for the 2023 South East Asian (SEA) Games. Local primary school students were invited to the event for promoting the value of sports and the Olympic spirit in Cambodia. The students listened to Nhan Sokvisal, Game Director of the Olympic Committee and leader of the Cambodian national team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, talk about his life and passion for sports. Prior to the SEA Games, a mixed team of Japanese and Cambodians co-created GiFT DAY through intensive dialogue to spread the value of sports in Cambodia.
The Diversity Voyage is a short-term overseas training programme featuring co-creation and social participation developed and offered by Global Incubation x Fostering Talents (GiFT: https://j-gift.org/). The programme seeks to foster global citizenship (i.e., people with a vision to make a better world).
The Diversity Voyage programme, open to all students at Toyo University, takes place twice a year (during the summer and spring breaks) in seven countries in Asia and Southeast Asia. It marked its twelfth session this spring. Twenty Toyo University students and twelve students from seven Cambodian universities including the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia and Kirirom Institute of Technology signed up for the Cambodia course. The participants studied together with the main focus on dialogue and held GiFT Day to cap the programme. Training sessions were offered to the students before and after the programme.
