Physical education as a part of the educational curriculum in the Republic of Uganda. Because of various historical and cultural factors, however, most elementary schools do not teach physical education. This project prepares a physical education teacher’s manual that can actually be used by elementary school educators and conduct workshops on instructional methods using the manual with the objective of spreading physical education in elementary schools in Republic of Uganda.

The following activities will be undertaken as the main pillars of this project.

•Preparation of a physical education teacher’s manual with the cooperation of the national Curriculum Development Committee and local experts and educators

•Selection of pilot schools in three provinces near the capital of the Republic of Uganda and the provision of guidance through workshops on how to use the manual and instructional methods.

Both of these activities will serve to gain understanding of local culture and environments and build the foundations for continuously spreading physical education in the Republic of Uganda.

Feedback from :

There are expectations that this project will serve as a first step towards making breakthroughs in the current situation in the Republic of Uganda (physical education is included in the national curriculum but is not actually taught). At this orientation, the many physical education instructors who gathered were able to gain a proper understanding of the significance and details of physical education and came to understand the importance of physical education. I hope to use what I learned here to conduct more practical workshops.
