The 2nd National Unified Soccer Tournament -Special Olympics Nippon-
The 2nd National Unified Soccer Tournament was held at J-GREEN Sakai from Saturday, December 9th to Sunday, December 10th, 2017.
A total of 20 teams from all over the country participated including Korean teams.
Special Olympics athletes (athletes with intellectual disabilities) and partners (athletes without intellectual disabilities) participated in the competition as members of the same team and deepened mutual understanding through a two-day exchange.
Special Olympics offers a place called Unified Sports where athletes and partners play sports as members of the same team. This initiative is gradually expanding, and about 300 volunteers supported the operation of the tournament held at this event. Special Olympics Nippon will continue to aim to recognize an inclusive society that respects and supports each other regardless of their disabilities through unified sports activities.
