【Project Activities】

Invited male and female high school teams from Japan and abroad to participate in an international tournament. In addition to the competition, various international cross-cultural exchange events were held.

【Project Background】

Held at Global Arena, a comprehensive multi-purpose sports facility opened in 2000, with the aim of developing the next generation of leaders through sports.

【Project Objective】

To promote the healthy development of youth through sports, improve and popularize competitive skills, and foster international cultural exchange.

【Project Area】

Promotion of Sports

【Methods】

Support for hosting events and tournaments

【Outcomes】

After two cancellations, one domestic tournament, and one scaled-down international event due to COVID-19, the 25th tournament was successfully held in its full version. We successfully undertook various new challenges, not only in the competition itself but also in the event initiatives.

【Voices from Participants and Partners】

“Beyond the matches, there were many opportunities to interact with players from other countries. For example, we gathered at the front desk or in common areas at night to build friendships. Exchanging jerseys was also a highlight.” (Captain of an overseas boys’ team)

【Challenges and Lessons Learned】

To reach beyond core rugby fans, we utilized SNS influencers, held press conferences, and organized side events. While we saw some results, we realized that fan growth requires consistent effort. Securing funding to ensure the tournament’s long-term sustainability remains a key challenge.
