Sanix Cup U-17 International Handball Exchange (2023)
【Project Activities】
We invited boys’ and girls’ high school teams from Japan and abroad and held an international tournament. Beyond matches, we also hosted intercultural exchange events.
【Project Background】
Held at the multi-purpose sports complex “Global Arena,” opened in 2000, to develop the next generation through sport. The tournament has been held since 2008.
【Project Objective】
Promote healthy youth development through sport, enhance competitive performance and participation, and foster international cultural exchange.
【Project Area】
Sport Promotion
【Methods】
Support for events and competitions
【Outcomes】
With competition and living areas within the same facility, teams could test their strengths and tactics on the court without prior information. Off the court, spontaneous international exchange supported meaningful personal growth.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
“The tournament level was high and operations were excellent, allowing players to focus on matches. Global Arena was comfortable for both competition and accommodation, and the staff’s hospitality was outstanding. We would like to participate again.” (Head coach, overseas team)
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
We approached teams in Europe, but participation was not possible due to COVID-19 impacts and rising airfare. We aim to provide information earlier next year to connect this effort to the next tournament.
