【R.O. Congo】Republic of the Congo Judo Uniform Presentation Project
To encourage citizens of the Republic of the Congo to deepen their understanding of and empathy with Japan by further promoting Judo in the Republic of the Congo, we presented judo uniforms which can be used in international competition.
Given the importance of boosting cooperative cultural and sporting ties to further strengthen the relationship between the Republic of the Congo and Japan, and with the African Games held in the Republic of the Congo in September 2015 and the Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo in 2020 in mind, we presented judo uniforms to the National Judo Team of the Republic of the Congo. On 7 August, 2015, at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Japan, the ad interim Charge d’Affaires, Boniface Lezona, invited members of the House of Councillors in the Diet, Seiko Hashimoto and Toshiei Mizuochi, and the Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo, Shigeru Ushio, as well as The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and JICA. A presentation ceremony was held, cementing an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between both countries and promote industrial and economic development.
