【France】Mizuno Stage de Judo avec Makoto Takimoto (The Mizuno Judo Victory Clinic with Makoto Takimoto Sensei)
The Judo Victory Clinic was started in 2007 by Mizuno in the major Judo nation of France, and this year welcomed Makoto Takimoto, the gold medallist from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, as an instructor. The clinic was held in two locations in France, in the Northwest in the city of Rouen, and in the Northeast in the city of Reims.
It is a valuable experience to be taught first-hand by a gold medallist from Judo’s birthplace of Japan. Various levels of Judo practitioners gathered at this exciting workshop, from children to black-belts. Takimoto Sensei presented the finer details of the popular throwing techniques of the taiotoshi and uchimata, taking care to summarise their essential elements in a well thought-out manner. From children to Judo instructors, all levels of participants were very happy with the content of the presentation and were able to learn from it.
Feedback from :
To be taught first-hand by a top Judo expert from Japan was a very valuable experience. Takimoto Sensei taught us a great number of well thought-out techniques that he used to achieve victory during his career in Judo. I was very surprised as I had not previously seen some of the techniques in France, such as the use of the tsurite (lifting hand) and how to enter into a technique. I am pleased I was able to come into contact with the spirit of Japanese Judo, and it was very meaningful. I would be very happy to see this kind of opportunity continued in future.
