We organized city sightseeing and an exchange event with Japanese runners for runners traveling from Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, to participate in the Sapporo Marathon—helping energize the event and build lasting connections with overseas partners.

【Project Background】

Because the Kaohsiung Fubon Marathon and the Sapporo Marathon have a friendship agreement, this initiative was implemented as part of a broader mutual exchange program.

【Outcomes】

The program brought together nine runners and family members from Kaohsiung, 14 domestic participants, and four guests—deepening the exchange among participants.

【Voices from Participants and Partners】

Many people said they would love to see it continue next year, and it has now been decided that the program will be held again in 2024. We also heard this year’s participants say they are looking forward to it.

【Challenges and Lessons Learned】

Although several interpreters were available, we still need creative approaches to communication across different languages.
