International Exchange Program Through Sports (2025)
【Project Activities】
S.C.P. Japan, in collaboration with “University of Tsukuba・TIAS 2.0” and “GLOBALTREE・Happy Life Care Co., Ltd. / Happy Holdings Co., Ltd.,” has conducted a total of three “International Exchange Programs through Sports” for children with disabilities.
【Project Background】
This project is part of our ongoing alliance partnership with GLOBALTREE, and this marks the second time it has been implemented. Building on the results of the previous initiative, we continued to carry out the program this fiscal year with the aim of fostering mutual understanding and learning about diversity.
【Project Objective】
1) To nurture individuals who can actively and interactively engage with others, contributing to the creation of an inclusive society that respects diversity.
2) To provide children with disabilities with opportunities for inclusive experiences that respect diversity
3) To broaden horizons through international exchange and create opportunities to understand each other’s cultures and perspectives
【Project Area】
Education through Sports
【Methods】
Program Implementation
【Outcomes】
・Through collaboration among companies, organizations, and universities, we were able to leverage each other’s strengths and create best practices that can be replicated in other regions.
・In addition to sports, we introduced new “content for learning about the cultures and games of various countries.” Furthermore, by having the children themselves introduce Japanese games, we fostered two-way exchange rather than a one-way interaction. As a result, participants learned to acknowledge and respect each other’s differences while devising ways to communicate beyond words.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
<Participants>
・The games from Ghana and Brazil were a lot of fun.
・I’m glad I had the chance to introduce Japanese games.
<International Students>
・It was a really fun experience! As an international student, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share games from my home country and play them. Seeing the children enjoy themselves, show interest in my culture, and teach me games they play in Japan was truly heartwarming. I think this is something every international student should experience.
・I am very proud to be a member of this team and to share my knowledge and experience with the children. As part of the cross-cultural exchange program, I am very happy to have been able to introduce games from my home country and learn about games from other countries.
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
Although we incorporated two-way interaction (such as having the children introduce Japanese games), we prioritized giving as many children as possible the chance to participate. As a result, activities involving individual children were limited to a single session, and we were unable to fully develop the program to the point where the children took the initiative to share their own ideas or deepen their mutual understanding.
