【Summary】

Beyond borders CAMP in Nepal took place from December 23 to December 30, 2023, in Panauti, Nepal. Twelve Japanese athletes and four coaches participated in the camp. They had the opportunity to connect with the world through a football tournament with local children, homestays, and school visits.

【Project Objective】

The aim of this project was to provide Japanese children with opportunities to experience ‘Connections with people’ and ‘Connections with the world’ through football, transcending differences in nationality, ethnicity, language, and religion.

【Activities/projects】

〇 FC REALE CUP (Exchange tournament with local footballers）:The Japanese and Nepalese teamed up together and deepened their connection through football at the Reale Cup.
〇 Homestay in rural areas, school visits: The players had homestays and school visits, and had interactions with the local people that transcended language barriers. On the other hand, they also encountered the reality of serious air pollution and inconvenient living conditions.

【Outcome】

〇 Participants were able to establish connections with people from different cultures through football.
〇 Participants gained new perspectives on Japan and the world by experiencing daily life and culture in Nepal.
