Exchange Camp (2024)

Exchange Camp (2024)1
Exchange Camp (2024)2

【Project Activities】

Building on regular pool-based swimming practice, participants enjoyed sea bathing while experiencing floating techniques, swimming methods, and water safety in the ocean. Vietnamese international students who had never swam in the sea before were also invited to promote exchange.

【Project Background】

The summer camp is a regular annual event. Every year, we invite various international participants to foster cultural exchange whenever possible.

【Project Objective】

Prevention of water accidents; understanding the physical differences between swimming in a pool and swimming in seawater.

【Project Area】

Education through sport

【Methods】

Event/Competition Support

【Outcomes】

Participants learned how to protect themselves in the ocean and experienced the differences in buoyancy and swimming between salt and fresh water. By spending time with members, parents, and coaches, participants recognized the rules of group living and strengthened their sense of camaraderie. (Participants: 18 members/alumni, 6 coaches, 7 parents, 2 Vietnamese international students).

【Voices from Participants and Partners】

“My usually shy child began to actively interact with others,” and “I was able to communicate a lot with people I don’t usually interact with during regular practice” (Parents). “I was thrilled to swim in the sea for the first time. I want to participate again” (Vietnamese student).

【Challenges and Lessons Learned】

The focus was on how to deepen interaction while members (children), coaches, and parents lived and ate together. In the future, we hope to increase the participation of international students and other foreign nationals to explore various international exchange activities.
