【Project Activities】
This project was made possible with the sponsorship of Max Support Co., Ltd., featuring former professional baseball player Tsuyoshi Nishioka (Lotte, Twins, Hanshin, etc.) and former Fuji TV announcer Daiki Tanaka as guest speakers.
【Project Background】
“As part of baseball promotion activities in the Asian region, we held baseball clinics for local children.
In addition to planning and operating the “1st Asia Koshien Tournament in Indonesia” to be held in December 2024, we are conducting baseball promotion activities in regions expected to participate in the future, such as the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore.”
【Project Objective】
Baseball Promotion Activities in ASEAN Countries
【Project Area】
Promotion of Sports
【Methods】
Event/Competition Support
【Outcomes】
“We welcomed former professional baseball player Tsuyoshi Nishioka (formerly of the Lotte Marines, Nippon Ham Fighters, and Hanshin Tigers) and former Fuji TV announcer Daiki Tanaka as guest instructors. Approximately 50 children and over 100 parents participated in the event, which featured enthusiastic instruction ranging from basic skills to game-style play.
All of these activities conducted by our company are initiatives leading up to the “1st Asian Koshien Tournament,” which will be held for the first time in Indonesia in December 2024. We are not only dedicated to promoting baseball in each region but also expanding networks among local communities and businesses, contributing to cultural exchange and future development through sports. At the baseball clinic in Bangkok, Thailand, a parent-child exchange event was also held, bringing together representatives from local companies and sponsors, as well as baseball officials.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
I am looking forward to sharing the appeal of baseball with the children in Bangkok, Thailand. In a region with the potential to compete in the Asia Koshien Tournament, I hope to see the dreams of a new generation take root. (Tsuyoshi Nishioka)
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
“There are 70,000 Japanese expatriates in Bangkok, Thailand, making it the largest Japanese market in Southeast Asia.
While it is an attractive country for events targeting Japanese residents, promoting baseball to local Thai children requires ingenuity. As we recognize this as a challenge, we plan to implement initiatives that collaborate with soccer and other popular sports.”
