【Project Activities】

Filmed and sent support videos to the Moldovan delegation (archery, judo, athletics) and the German delegation (boccia) participating in the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. This was done in collaboration with organizations that engaged in exchange with these delegations during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

【Project Background】

To promote continuous exchange with the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany, which were Host Town partners for Tsuruoka City during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, information on these countries’ participation in the Paris Olympics was obtained, and the production and sending of support videos was planned.

【Project Objective】

Fostering momentum for continued legacy exchange after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Host Town Exchange Project.

【Project Area】

Peacebuilding through sports, Olympic education, Sports for people with disabilities

【Methods】

Filming and sending support videos

【Outcomes】

Three years after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the relationships built through the Host Town exchange project were maintained, and momentum was generated among citizens and related organizations for the continuation and development of future exchanges.

【Voices from Participants and Partners】

Support Video Filmer: “By sending the support video, I started paying attention not only to Japanese athletes but also to Moldovan athletes’ performances.”Support Video Filmer: “It was heartwarming to learn that the athletes we interacted with then are still working hard, which increased my motivation for continuing future exchanges.”

【Challenges and Lessons Learned】

While mutual exchange with partner countries is ideal, early realization is difficult due to budget constraints and international circumstances. We feel it is necessary to explore initiatives in collaboration with related organizations to prevent the weakening of relationships with each country, while also searching for support menus from government and businesses.
