The 2nd Iwate Prefecture Comprehensive Community Sports Club Management Training Session for FY2024 (2024)
【Project Activities】
We held a lecture and workshop for representatives of comprehensive community sports clubs in Iwate Prefecture under the title “Revitalizing Communities Through Sports and the SDGs” – How Sports Activities Contribute to Solving Local SDG Challenges.
【Project Background】
As a way to highlight the social value of the activities of comprehensive community sports clubs, we gave a lecture on Sports SDGs in July 2022. Following the event, representatives from the Iwate Prefecture Sports Association, who had attended the lecture, requested that we deliver the same presentation to club officials.
【Project Objective】
This initiative brings together comprehensive community sports clubs, sports-related organizations, and municipal sports officials to conduct training and exchange information. The goal is to revitalize lifelong sports—enabling residents to engage in a variety of sports throughout their lives—and to enhance the management of these programs, thereby contributing to the development of comprehensive community sports clubs and related organizations.
【Project Area】
Sports SDGs
【Methods】
Seminar and Forum
【Outcomes】
We were able to help the staff of the community sports club understand how their day-to-day activities contribute to the SDGs.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
・The sports landscape is changing rapidly, so a workshop like today’s, which took a forward-looking perspective, was very valuable.
・It was interesting.
・I learned a great deal. I realized that if we aren’t sensitive to change, we won’t survive.
・The SDGs theme was very helpful for future developments. I want to use it as a lens for our communications.
・The connection between the SDGs and the association’s activities
・I learned a lot about AI.
・It was good to learn that our day-to-day activities actually contribute to the SDGs in certain ways.
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
I felt it would be even better if we could set aside more time to hold a workshop that would help participants gain a concrete understanding of how the club’s daily activities relate to the SDGs.
