【Project Activities】

Invitation of the Ukraine team to the Hulic–Daihatsu Japan Para Badminton International 2023, implementation of a pre-competition training camp, and school visits.

【Project Background】

Because the Ukraine team—amid an ongoing war—was invited in FY2022, we continued the invitation in FY2023, providing a training environment through a pre-competition camp in Japan and conducting school visits in Shibuya Ward.

【Project Objective】

Support the Ukraine team’s participation during an ongoing war, provide a pre-camp training environment, and promote international exchange through school visits.

【Project Area】

Para Sports

【Methods】

Dispatching and hosting athletes

【Outcomes】

By running the pre-camp, we were able to provide thorough preparation conditions for the international tournament. International exchange through school visits was also realized. Results included: Alexandr Chyrkov (Men’s SL3) 3rd place in men’s singles; Oksana Kozyna (Women’s SL3) women’s singles Best 8; Nina Kozlova (Women’s SH6) 2nd place in women’s doubles; Anastasiia ZAVALII (Women’s SH6) 2nd place in women’s doubles.

【Voices from Participants and Partners】

“In France, where we stayed, there was not a sufficient practice environment. We were able to train properly in Japan, including hitting practice.” (Participating athlete)

【Challenges and Lessons Learned】

Preparing and submitting the report took considerable time. We would like to work to shorten this process.
