Dispatch and Exchange of Candidates for Obstacle Sports Technical Official Certification (2023)
【Project Activities】
Because training international-standard technical officials is an urgent issue for the new sport of obstacle sports, we dispatched certification candidates to the Philippines—which is ahead in promoting the sport—to receive technical instruction and engage in exchange.
【Project Background】
To participate in a one-day technical official seminar under International Federation (IF) standards (https://worldobstacle.org/) and aim to obtain the International Technical Official (ITO) Level 1 certification.
【Project Objective】
Develop international technical officials essential for promoting obstacle sports and strengthen exchange.
【Project Area】
Sport Promotion
【Methods】
Dispatching and hosting coaches and instructors
【Outcomes】
We received technical instruction from Philippine technical officials—who are advanced in promoting obstacle sports—and successfully obtained the Level 1 technical official certification.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
“We are very honored to welcome the first participants from Japan. Going forward, together with Japan as a member of the IF and AF, we want to further promote obstacle sports. We look forward to the day we compete together—first at the 2026 Asian Games, and then as obstacle sports becomes a new discipline replacing equestrian in modern pentathlon at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
Training technical officials domestically is an urgent priority.
