Kushiro Winter Park 2024 (2024)
【Project Activities】
To promote sports tourism in Kushiro, we created a winter-only amusement park that leverages the city’s low snowfall and cold climate. This event offers a one-of-a-kind experience in Japan: skating amid illumination productions.
【Project Background】
Trees across the venue are decorated with illuminations, and visitors can skate on Japan’s first circulating link created by freezing walkways, as well as a spacious square rink. The event also features an ice slider, a kids’ area for young children, and food unique to Kushiro.
【Project Objective】
Regional revitalization.
【Project Area】
Sports Tourism
【Methods】
Support for events and competitions
【Outcomes】
Received the 12th Sports Promotion Award.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
• Highly local in character, both in terms of sports promotion and as an event unique to Kushiro.
• The concept of revitalizing Kushiro in winter is very interesting.
• The event effectively appeals to both tourists and inbound visitors while also engaging local residents.
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
Increase the amount of illumination and raise awareness nationwide.
