U.S. Track & Field Clinic (2024)
【Project Activities】
We invited a national coach and an Olympic medalist from USA Track & Field and held a track-and-field clinic for elementary and junior high school students in the city.
【Project Background】
Following registration as a Host Town initiative for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the United States as the partner country (FY2016: Narita, Sakura, and Inzai Cities), we have held this clinic since FY2017 as part of the Host Town program.
【Project Objective】
By inviting USA Track & Field national coaches and top athletes and providing world-class technical instruction and international exchange opportunities, we aim to promote sports in the community and, ultimately, revitalize the region.
【Project Area】
Sport Promotion
【Methods】
Dispatching and hosting athletes (including coaches) Inviting not only athletes but also coaches.
【Outcomes】
Learning from world-class athletes such as Olympic medalists has given children dreams and hopes and contributed to improving their athletic performance.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
We received many positive comments such as, “I was so happy to be coached by world-class athletes.”
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
USA Track & Field suggested that holding the event around October could broaden the range of athletes who can be invited. However, autumn already has many sports events in the city, making this difficult.
