Sanix Flag Fukuoka International Junior High School Judo Tournament 2023 (2023)
【Project Activities】
We invited boys’ and girls’ junior high school teams from Japan and abroad and held an international tournament. Before the tournament, overseas teams joined a training camp led by Japanese coaches; the day after the tournament, we held a joint practice session.
【Project Background】
Held at the multi-purpose sports complex “Global Arena,” opened in 2000, to develop the next generation through sport. The event has been held since 2003.
【Project Objective】
Promote healthy youth development through sport, enhance competitive performance and participation, and foster international cultural exchange.
【Project Area】
Sport Promotion
【Methods】
Support for events and competitions
【Outcomes】
With competition and living areas within the same facility, teams could test their strengths and tactics on the court without prior information. Off the court, spontaneous international exchange supported meaningful personal growth.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
“It was wonderful to be in an environment where a tournament with so many athletes can be held routinely. Please continue this event—I would love to participate again.” (Coach, Mongolia team)
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
Participation patterns have changed—possibly because teams could not travel far during COVID-19 and more tournaments now overlap in the same period. We will highlight this tournament’s strengths—its high competitive level and international character—to attract more participating teams.
