【Project Activities】
Theme: “Case Studies of Activities by Athlete Career Coordinators (ACC)”
【Project Background】
Gen Shogaki, an employee in our Training Support Promotion Department, was an active frontline para-athlete. Having successfully established his own second career after retiring from competition, he now serves as an Athlete Career Coordinator, providing guidance and advice to sports talents.
【Project Objective】
Career education for sports talents in Japan
【Project Area】
Sport and CSR
【Methods】
Dispatch and invitation of coaches and instructors
【Outcomes】
Drawing from his personal experience as an individual with a disability, the lecturer delivered highly persuasive insights into the realities and career development of para-athletes. Furthermore, he successfully addressed the pressing challenges the parasports community will face from 2024 onwards.
【Voices from Participants and Partners】
We received feedback such as: “Precisely because the system supporting para-athletes’ second careers is just beginning to take shape, we were able to recognize it as an immediate and increasingly tangible challenge.”
【Challenges and Lessons Learned】
To facilitate appropriate career development for the “athlete employment native” generation, who will face a major turning point in their lives upon retirement following the 2024 Paris Olympics.
