Running Clinic 2017, Advanced Course and Trainers Training
As a new initiative of the running clinic for artificial limb users, the members carried out two programs, an advanced course aimed at improving skills and follow-up, and a trainer’s training aimed at expanding the environment where amputees can learn running on November 4th and 5th, 2017 at the Gotenshita Memorial Arena of the University of Tokyo.
In this program, three Paralympic World Championship medalists, Heinrich Popov, Leon Schäfer, and Atsushi Yamamoto were invited as instructors, and 18 amputees, 28 sports instructors, and medical personnel participated in this course. Under the enthusiastic guidance of three instructors, it was a valuable opportunity to acquire the basic training necessary to acquire running using artificial limbs and to learn the concept and ingenuity in teaching amputees.
