IPC, APC, JPC and JSC Collaboration Project: Workshop for Enhancing Participation of Asian Female Para-Athletes
A workshop was held for Paralympic Committees in the Asian and Middle East regions which did not send female athletes to the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. The purpose of the workshop was to enhance participation of female para-athletes in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games and other international events.
The JSC collaborated with the IPC, APC and JPC in holding the workshop with lectures and group discussions on the influence of female athletes and para-athletes on society, methods and issues related to discovering and developing talent, as well as entry qualifications for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. We prepared a working plan for each country to achieve their goals and exchanged opinions.
The APC will play a major role in following up on the activities of the respective countries.
Feedback from Participant :
Mr. Namgyal Wangchuk, Head of the National Paralympic Team, Bhutan Paralympic Committee:
This was the first time for the Bhutan Paralympic Committee to take part in this kind of workshop. We were able to obtain valuable information. I look forward with great anticipation to the first participation by our country including female athletes in the Tokyo Games next year.
