Surfing Summer Junior Program
Otake Surf Life Saving Club held a summer junior program for members of its sister club, BMD Northcliffe in Australia, for elementary and junior high school students. This program aimed to reduce waterside accidents by learning about the dangers and pleasures of the sea while getting familiar with it. Seven elementary and junior high school students learned through recreation, grasping the sea conditions of the day, the danger and pleasures of the sea, competition practice on the beach, and first aid skills.
Participants also learned how to surf with beach flags and nipper boards, practice for competitions such as swimming in the ocean, first aid skills for when something happens to people around them.
The program, without an interpreter, sponsored by members of BMD Northcliffe, the world’s number one club, was a new initiative and was a good inspiration for children.
